Oliver brushed away two or three ... fortunately bowed to that.
He shook his head slightly to brush away the memories.
that引導出限製性定語從句且代替主語two or three tears。
He sat in the armchair, reading a newspaper.
If one member of a class blessed with an intuitive perception of others of the same race ... an opinion on the matter.
詞組be blessed with是被賦予，享有……
例 She’s blessed with excellent health.
be qualified to do有資格做……
例 I don’t know much about it, so I don’t feel qualified to comment.
pronounce an opinion指個人想法說出來，有諷刺的意味（對比express an opinion）。
The gentleman who spoke last was unconsciously right.
orderly chaos又亂又整齊、the living death行屍走肉、victorious defeat雖敗猶榮、an old young man老成的年輕人。
What a noble illustration of the tender laws of this favoured country! They let the paupers go to sleep!
第一句話為感歎句，句型為：what a/an/the+可數名詞單數+it is！此句省略了it is。 What a fine day it is!
What good teachers they are!
What thick ice we are having here!
