The long dark night has finally come to an end.
漫漫長夜終於結束了。
For years, our country was torn apart. Federal institutions fell silent across much of the nation. States were isolated from one another, cities became fortresses, and armed factions raised new flags over American soil.

But the United States did not disappear.

Through every year of disorder, men and women remained at their posts. The institutions of national defense survived. The authority of the Constitution survived. And those entrusted with the final instruments of the Republic never surrendered them to fear, faction, or ambition.

We endured and rebuilt.
